The parade dedicated to the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held in Perm

About  2,000 people  marched in the parade  - the military and the cadets. To see the  solemn march   of the Perm garrison and military equipment  over 12,500 people gathered  in October Square.

The celebration of the 79th anniversary of the Victory in Perm began with the ceremony of laying the flowers at the monument «Heroes of the Front and Rear», followed by a solemn march of the Perm garrison  and military equipment took place in October Square.

Guests of the parade were veterans of WWII as  local combat operations as well as  workers of the rear, sitting in  the front row. The event was attended by leaders of the region and city - Perm Region Governor  Dmitry Makhonin, Chief Federal Inspector of the Perm Region  Sergey Polovnikov, Mayor  of Perm Eduard Sosnin, deputies of various levels, chief executives  government  agencies and representatives of the public.

Governor Dmitry Makhonin congratulated the residents and guests of the regional capital on the occasion, noting that the Perm Region, like the whole country, remembers with pride those who fought for the freedom of the Motherland during the difficult years of the Great Patriotic War.

– The Perm Region   contributed a lot to the future Victory. During the years of war, about half a million of its residents  went to the front. Our countrymen fought heroically on all fronts. During the Great Patriotic War, the then Molotov region became home to hundreds of thousands of people who lost their homes and families in the war.  Over  180 enterprises, together  with their staff and   workers were transported  to our region, and manufacturing of  products so needed for the army started literally «on the wheels», - said the leader of the region. 

20 units of military equipment  from  the Perm Military Institute of the National Guard and  «Motovilikha plants» were shown in October Square, preceded by the legendary  «Katyusha BM-13» mounted on  ZIS-6  truck - one of the symbols of the WWII Victory. «Katyusha» played its  most important role in the Battle of Stalingrad. During the years of war, 6,800 combat vehicles were produced. Perm «Katyusha» was restored in the workshop of the Russian Martial Arts Center named after Major General Yuri Drozdov and traditionally leads the line of  military equipment at the Victory Day parade in Perm.

The parade was broadcast  live on TV and on large LCD screen in the square in front of the Drama Theatre.
